Ice Cube is a marketing mastermind.
Earlier today, Ice Cube sent an offer out to Caitlin Clark, probably the biggest name in Women’s Basketball history, to join his 3v3 basketball league for $5 million. For reference, the highest paid player in the WNBA is currently Azura Stevens (who?? *respectfully*) of the Los Angeles Sparks. This obviously crushes even the highest paid WNBA player and DEMOLISHES what Caitlin would make as a rookie, which would only be around $60,000 – 70,000 a year. I do think it is possible that Caitlin can actually play in the WNBA AND the Big3, considering most of the women go play overseas in their offseason, but WNBA or not, Caitlin Clark to the Big3 NEEDS TO HAPPEN.
I took a gander through the current rosters of the Big3 and didn’t realize it has actually gone on to get some decent talent since the last time I checked in on the league, back when Big Baby Glen Davis was cooking the league on the daily. Guys like Rashard Lewis, Tony Allen, Michael Beasley, Mario Chalmers, Gerald Green (2K13 Legend), Corey Brewer, Swaggy P (goat), Isaiah Austin (I thought he was supposed to never be able to play basketball again?? *respectfully*), Jason Richardson, and ISO Joe Johnson.
While these guys are for the most part old, they were all at some point at least somewhat big names and could embarrass 99.9999% of the world in basketball. I think all of them still could embarrass 99.88888% of the world in basketball, including Caitlin Clark *respectfully*.
Throwing Caitlin Clark into the Big3 would be so freaking sick. I’m sure she would have her moments of having an exciting 3 or 4 pointer from deep every now and then, but I imagine this would mostly consist of her getting out-physicaled by 50 year old retired NBA veterans. There is no shot Caitlin Clark can get a single point on 50-year-old Tony Allen *respectfully*. Gerald Green is going to posterize Caitlin into oblivion *respectfully*. Rashard Lewis is going to swat any layup Caitlin attempts back to Iowa *again, respectfully*.
Never in 1,000,000 years would I have guessed Caitlin’s professional career rival was going to be Mario Chalmers.
Do not get it twisted I think Caitlin is the most electric women’s basketball player I have ever seen, BUT I think Men’s Basketball is a whole different sport and she would not be able to hang even with the worst NBA Players, which is exactly why Ice Cube needs to make this happen. TO PUT THIS THEORY TO THE TEST. It would simply be Must-See-TV.
Ice Cube, you have my full support. Lock it in.
