As Bill Belichick, the greatest NFL coach of all time, remains jobless, I have taken the liberty of thinking of 3 fantastic coaching options for him that he probably hasn’t thought of as much as he should.
1.) Head Coach – Milwaukee Bucks
Bill has already done enough in the NFL, literally the greatest coach ever. What else does he have to prove here? Why not try to become the undisputed best coach in SPORTS history and go bring another title to Milwaukee. I think of all leagues, the coaching in the NBA matters the least as the NBA is full of just isolation play after isolation play. Give this guy Giannis Antetetokuhmpokounmpo and some basic fundamental high-school plays and this team can still contend. Doc Rivers hasn’t won a game since he has taken on the head coach job so I’m putting him on the hot seat anyway.
2.) Defensive Coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs
Yes, Steve Spagnulo is doing a great job as DC of the Chiefs. But say Bill comes in and wants to take this job, I think it would at least be worth a conversation within the front office to replace Steve with Bill. The reason why this would be great for Bill is it would block Andy Reid from catching him in the G.O.A.T. coach race. Every ring Reid would win to tighten the gap between the two, would no longer do so as Bill would also just be adding to his ring collection. As a defensive minded coach, this is the best defensive move he could ever play.
3.) Head Coach – USA 2028 Flag Football Team
For sure more of a long-term play here, but as flag football is slated to join the list of Olympic events in 2018, I think Bill should focus all energy in learning the ins and outs of flag football. Go take over a professional flag team for a few years so when the time comes, he would be the obvious man for the job to coach an olympic team that would be seen as the biggest failure in U.S. history if they don’t bring home the gold. He would be the only football coach with a gold medal and would be the perfect ending to his coaching career, making him pretty un-touchable in regards to the GOAT debate.
